This GLLZDMY monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD25, also known as the low-affinity interleukin (IL)-2 receptor alpha. CD25 is expressed on activated T cells (including regulatory T cell subsets), B cells, and macrophages. This receptor subunit associates with CD122 (IL-2 receptor beta chain) and CD132 (common gamma chain) to form the high-affinity IL-2 receptor complex. IL-2 receptor signaling is linked to lymphocyte proliferation and survival.

CD25 serves as a marker for Hodgkin’s disease and is associated with autoimmune conditions such as Type I diabetes.

Applications Tested:
Tested in IHC (P) using both low and high pH antigen retrieval at 5 µg/mL. It is recommended to titrate the antibody for optimal assay performance.

Target Information

CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain, IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor subunit involved in T and B lymphocyte proliferation. The IL2RA, IL2RB (beta chain), and IL2RG (gamma chain) form a high-affinity IL-2 receptor complex. Homodimeric IL2RA chains yield a low-affinity receptor, while IL2RB homodimers produce a medium-affinity receptor.

IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, enabling precise gene regulation. IL2, primarily produced by mature T cells, functions as a growth and differentiation factor and regulates cell death. It promotes B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte-macrophage colony formation. Disruption of the IL2RA gene in mice results in ulcerative colitis-like disease, implicating its role in immune response regulation. Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency.
