Target Information

Angiogenin (ANG or ANG I) is a key factor in neovascularization and new blood vessel formation. It is structurally similar to pancreatic ribonuclease A and functions as a tRNA-specific ribonuclease that inhibits protein synthesis by hydrolyzing cellular tRNAs. ANG interacts with endothelial cell-surface actin, influencing cytoskeletal organization. It is implicated in solid tumor development, and its antagonists can inhibit tumor growth. Mutations in ANG are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 9 (ALS9), linking ANG to both ALS and Parkinson’s disease.
