Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with human, orangutan, rat, and pig based on 100% sequence homology. Cross-reactivity with JAK II from other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) is a protein tyrosine kinase involved in specific cytokine receptor signaling pathways and is mutated in polycythemia vera.
This kinase contains the catalytic domain (JH1) of JAK2. Activation of JAKs can lead to phosphorylation of STAT (signal transducers and activators of transcription) proteins, which dimerize and translocate to the nucleus to modify transcription of numerous genes, including interferon-stimulated genes.
JAK2 is required for the IFN gamma-receptor complex initiation, while JAK1 functions as an amplifier.
Mutations affecting JAK2 can cause Budd-Chiari syndrome, Polycythemia vera, Thrombocythemia 3, Myelofibrosis, or Acute myelogenous leukemia.
