Target Information
LUM is a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family that includes decorin, biglycan, fibromodulin, keratocan, epiphycan, and osteoglycin. These bifunctional molecules bind collagen fibrils and regulate interfibrillar spacings through glycosaminoglycans. LUM is the major keratan sulfate proteoglycan of the cornea and is also found in interstitial collagenous matrices throughout the body. It may play roles in collagen fibril organization, corneal transparency, epithelial cell migration, and tissue repair.
