Target Information
Endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase 1 (ERAP1) is a 120 kDa protein localized to the ER lumen. It removes NH₂-terminal residues from antigenic precursors for MHC class I peptide presentation. ERAP1 trims peptides of 9 amino acids or more and is induced by interferon-gamma.
The human ERAP1 gene maps to chromosome 5q15 and is also known as A-LAP, PILS-AP, and ARTS-1.
- A-LAP: Inactivates bioactive peptides such as angiotensin II, potentially regulating blood pressure.
- PILS-AP: Involved in angiogenesis by regulating endothelial cell proliferation and migration.
- ARTS-1: TNFR1 binding protein promoting TNFR1 shedding.
