Target Information
Laminins are extracellular matrix glycoproteins that form a major component of basement membranes. They play roles in cell adhesion, differentiation, migration, signaling, neurite outgrowth, and metastasis. These effects are mediated through interactions with cell surface receptors, including integrins and non-integrin laminin-binding proteins.
The Laminin Receptor 1 (RPSA) is a high-affinity, non-integrin laminin receptor, also known as 67 kDa laminin receptor, 37 kDa laminin receptor precursor (37LRP), or p40 ribosome-associated protein. Its sequence is highly conserved, indicating an essential biological role. Elevated expression has been observed in colon carcinoma and lung cancer cells, correlating with invasive and metastatic phenotypes. Multiple pseudogene copies exist, and two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
