Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of CD28 only when phosphorylated at Tyr218.
Target Information
CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T-cell specific surface glycoprotein. It belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes. CD28 serves as a critical costimulatory receptor by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells, providing the second activation signal for T-cell activation. Additionally, CD28 prevents T cells from entering an anergic state or premature apoptosis. In murine lymphoid tissues and blood, all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells express CD28, with expression levels varying during thymocyte maturation. CD28 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as mycosis fungoides and Sézary’s disease.
