Product Specific Information

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

ChM-1 is a cartilage-specific matrix glycoprotein that stimulates the growth of chondrocytes. It inhibits angiogenesis by disrupting endothelial cell tube formation, contributing to the avascular nature of cartilage. ChM-1 is strongly expressed in the proliferating and hypertrophic zones of the epiphyseal plate in long bones and accumulates in the interterritorial matrix around the lacunae. During development, downregulation of ChM-1 permits angiogenesis and bone formation on the cartilage template. Its expression is downregulated by growth factors such as TGFβ2, FGF2, and PTHLH, and may play a role in the hypovascularity and chondroid formation of pleomorphic adenomas. The human ChM-1 gene maps to chromosome 13q14–q21.
