Target Information
p21 단백질은 Cyclin-dependent kinase(CDK)의 억제제로 작용하는 종양 억제 단백질이며, p53에 의해 전사적으로 활성화됩니다.
세포는 DNA 손상 후 p21을 통해 G1에서 S기로의 전환 또는 G2에서 유사분열로의 전환을 차단함으로써 DNA 복구 시간을 확보합니다.
핵 내에서 p21은 Cdk1 및 Cdk2를 억제하여 세포주기 진행을 제어하며, 세포질에서는 caspase-3, ASK1, JNK를 억제하여 항-아폽토시스 기능을 수행합니다.
p21은 암 발생 과정에서 이중적 역할을 가지며, 종양 억제 및 세포 생존 조절에 모두 관여합니다.
