Product Specific Information

  • Specificity: This antibody is specific for an epitope located between amino acids 417–432 of the conserved fusion (F) protein of RSV.

Target Information

Felvizumab is a biosimilar that targets RSV (Human respiratory syncytial virus).
RSV is a member of the Paramyxoviridae family, subfamily Pneumovirinae, and causes common respiratory tract infections such as measles and mumps.
Its genome consists of single-stranded, negative-sense RNA encoding three envelope glycoproteins:

  • SH (small hydrophobic) protein of unknown function
  • G (major glycoprotein, attachment protein)
  • F (fusion) protein

The F proteins on the virus surface cause fusion of nearby cell membranes, forming syncytia.
While RSV typically produces mild symptoms in adults, it is a leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections and hospital visits during infancy and childhood.
