Synaptophysin은 대부분의 뉴런의 시냅스 소포에 존재하는 칼슘 결합성 막 당단백질로, 네 개의 막관통 영역을 가지고 있습니다. 높은 칼슘 농도에서 dynamin과 복합체를 형성하며, 이는 시냅스 소포의 엔도사이토시스 및 시냅스 가소성 조절에 관여함을 시사합니다. Synaptophysin은 신경 말단 및 신경내분비 종양을 구별하기 위한 가장 널리 사용되는 마커입니다. 해당 유전자의 돌연변이는 X-연관 정신지체와 관련될 수 있습니다.
