Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications of the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Chromosomal rearrangement often produces a fusion gene combining the ALK gene (chromosome 2) and the nucleophosmin (NPM) gene (chromosome 5), resulting in the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein. ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK, and plays a key role in neuronal development.
