This antibody detects endogenous levels of total SLC25A14 protein.

Target Information

Mitochondrial uncoupling proteins (UCPs) are members of the mitochondrial anion carrier protein (MACP) family. UCPs separate oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis, dissipating energy as heat (mitochondrial proton leak). They transport anions across the mitochondrial membrane and facilitate proton return, reducing mitochondrial membrane potential. Tissue-specific expression varies among UCPs. The SLC25A14 gene is highly expressed in brain and testis and encodes a protein with an N-terminal hydrophobic domain not found in other UCPs. Two splice variants are known.
