RNA polymerase II는 mRNA 및 다양한 non-coding RNA의 합성을 담당하는 효소입니다.
POLR2A 유전자는 RNA polymerase II의 가장 큰 소단위체인 subunit B1 (RPB1)을 암호화합니다.
RPB1의 C-terminal domain (CTD)은 YSPTSPS 서열의 반복으로 구성되어 있으며, 이 서열 내 Serine-2 및 Serine-5 잔기의 인산화는 전사 주기를 조절하는 인자들의 결합과 RNA 처리 인자의 모집에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
