Target Information
Histone H3 is one of the DNA-binding proteins found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with four core histone proteins, it binds to DNA to form the nucleosome structure. Histones play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication, and chromosomal stability.
Post-translational modifications of histones can directly alter chromatin structure or facilitate the binding of specific transcription factors. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 extends from the nucleosome core and can undergo several modifications such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, which influence various cellular processes.
