Apolipoprotein A4 (ApoA-IV)는 단백질 분해 후 O-결합 당단백질 형태로 존재하는 혈장 단백질입니다. ApoA4는 HDL의 주요 구성 성분이며, 새로 합성된 킬로미크론 표면에서도 발견됩니다. ApoA4의 생리적 기능은 완전히 규명되지 않았으나, 여러 in vitro 연구 결과에 따르면 역콜레스테롤 운반 경로(reverse cholesterol transport pathway)의 여러 단계에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 이 경로는 말초 세포에서 간으로 콜레스테롤을 운반합니다.
