Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Acetyl-Histone H4 only when acetylated at Lys12.
Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. Two molecules each of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 form an octamer, around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped to form nucleosomes. The linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes and aids in chromatin compaction into higher-order structures. The gene encoding histone H4 is intronless and lacks polyA tails, containing instead a palindromic termination element. It is located within the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6.
