WFDC2 유전자는 WFDC 도메인 패밀리에 속하는 단백질을 암호화합니다. WFDC 도메인은 8개의 시스테인이 4개의 이황화 결합을 형성하는 WAP 시그니처 모티프를 포함하며, 많은 패밀리 구성원에서 프로테아제 억제 기능을 수행합니다. 이 유전자는 폐 상피세포에서 발현되며, 일부 난소암에서도 발현이 보고되었습니다. 인코딩된 단백질은 소형 분비성 단백질로, 정자 성숙 과정에 관여할 수 있습니다.
