Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) family is a group of peroxidases involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prxs include six members classified into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys subgroups. Except for Prx VI (1-Cys), other 2-Cys Prx isoforms exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH. Mammalian Prxs (20–30 kDa) vary in subcellular localization: Prx I, II, VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secretion; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
