Target Information
Thymidine Kinase 1 (TK1) is a highly conserved phosphotransferase present in most living cells. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of deoxythymidine with ATP to form deoxythymidine 5'-phosphate and ADP, playing a key role in DNA synthesis. TK1 is essential for the action of antiviral drugs such as azidothymidine (AZT) and is used in hybridoma cell line selection during monoclonal antibody production. Clinically, TK1 serves as a marker for cell division activity.
