Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
Alpha actinins belong to the spectrin gene superfamily, representing a diverse group of cytoskeletal proteins including alpha/beta spectrins and dystrophins.
Alpha actinin is an actin-binding protein with multiple roles in different cell types.
- In nonmuscle cells: Found along microfilament bundles and adherens-type junctions, binding actin to the membrane.
- In muscle cells (skeletal, cardiac, smooth): Localized to the Z-disc and dense bodies, anchoring myofibrillar actin filaments.
