Specifically recognizes an epitope encoded by exon v6 on the variant portion of human CD44.
Standard CD44 (CD44s) lacks the entire variable region and is found mainly in cells of lymphohematopoietic origin.
The multiple isoforms (designated CD44v; v = variant) contain alternatively spliced exons inserted within the extracellular domain.
These isoforms include CD44v1–CD44v11.

Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, white matter of the brain, and some epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
Several isoforms exist, including the predominant CD44H isoform found in many normal tissues.
CD44 acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and is involved in cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
It also plays roles in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing.
CD44 expression may be upregulated in certain carcinomas and has been linked to metastatic potential.
