Specifically recognizes an epitope encoded by exon v6 on the variant portion of human CD44.
Standard CD44 (CD44s) lacks the variable region and is mainly found in lymphohematopoietic cells.
Multiple isoforms (CD44v1–CD44v11) contain alternatively spliced exons in the extracellular domain.

Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa cell surface glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and some epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
Several isoforms exist, with CD44H being predominant in many normal tissues.
CD44 acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and mediates cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
It is involved in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing.
CD44 expression may increase in certain carcinomas and may relate to metastatic potential.
