Product Specific Information

The 496B antibody reacts with human Granzyme B (GrB), a serine protease located in the granules of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells. It is also known as CGL1 (cathepsin G-like-1) and CTLA-1 (cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated serine esterase 1). Granzyme B is essential for inducing apoptosis in target cells through interaction with cytotoxic T cells via the mannose 6-phosphate receptor, which functions as a death receptor.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is suitable for immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections and for immunocytochemistry.

Applications Tested:
Validated for IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue with low pH antigen retrieval at ≤5 µg/mL. Optimal dilution should be determined by the user.

Target Information

Granzyme B is a member of the granzyme serine protease family found in cytotoxic T cells and NK cells. It induces apoptosis by activating caspase-3 and the mitochondrial pathway via Bid cleavage. Granzymes are neutral serine proteases stored in lytic granules of CTLs and NK cells. In humans, fewer granzymes have been cloned compared to mice.
