Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope on the free heavy chain of all HLA-G isoforms.
HLA-G belongs to the MHC Class I molecules (MHC Class Ib; nonclassical) and is expressed on the surface of trophoblast cells.
Target Information
HLA-G belongs to the HLA class I heavy chain paralogues. This class I molecule is a heterodimer consisting of a heavy chain and a light chain (beta-2 microglobulin). The heavy chain is anchored in the membrane and is approximately 45 kDa.
The HLA-G gene contains 8 exons:
- Exon 1: leader peptide
- Exons 2–3: alpha1 and alpha2 domains (peptide binding)
- Exon 4: alpha3 domain
- Exon 5: transmembrane region
- Exon 6: cytoplasmic tail
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential tools in Immunopeptidomics, aiding in the identification and characterization of neoantigens via high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
