Product Specific Information

This antibody binds extracellularly to the empty but not peptide-loaded form of HLA-DR1.
HLA-DR is an isotype of human MHC Class II molecules expressed on antigen-presenting cells (APC) such as dendritic cells, B lymphocytes, monocytes, and macrophages.

For flow cytometry, the antibody stains immature dendritic cells expressing empty surface MHC molecules, but not cells predominantly expressing peptide-loaded forms.

Target Information

HLA-DR1 is a member of the HLA class II beta chain paralogues.
MHC Class II molecules are heterodimers composed of an alpha (DRA) and beta (DRB) chain, both membrane-anchored. They play a central role in antigen presentation of extracellular peptides to the immune system.
The beta chain (~26–28 kDa) contains polymorphisms determining peptide binding specificity. Hundreds of DRB1 alleles are known, and typing is routinely performed in bone marrow and kidney transplantation.

HLA and MHC antibodies are valuable tools in Immunopeptidomics, enabling identification and characterization of neoantigens via LC–MS/MS analysis.
