Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes human clusterin (apolipoprotein J), a conserved secreted glycoprotein.
This antibody will not cross-react with porcine, bovine, canine, or feline species.

Target Information

Isoform 1 functions as an extracellular chaperone that prevents aggregation of nonnative proteins and stress-induced aggregation of plasma proteins. It inhibits amyloid fibril formation by APP, APOC2, B2M, CALCA, CSN3, SNCA, and aggregation-prone LYZ variants (in vitro).
It does not require ATP and maintains partially unfolded proteins for refolding by other chaperones such as HSPA8/HSC70.
Secreted isoform 1 protects cells against apoptosis and complement-mediated cytolysis.
Intracellular isoforms interact with ubiquitin and SCF E3 ligase complexes, promoting proteasomal degradation of target proteins and modulating NF-kappa-B activity.
Nuclear isoforms promote apoptosis, while mitochondrial isoforms suppress BAX-dependent cytochrome c release and inhibit apoptosis.
It also plays a role in the regulation of cell proliferation.
