Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD180, a 95–105 kDa TLR-like glycoprotein expressed on peripheral blood monocytes and dendritic cells, mantle zone B cells, and marginal zone B cells, but very weakly on germinal center B cells.

Target Information

CD180 (RP105, Bgp95, LY64) is a type I membrane glycoprotein of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family. Unlike other TLRs, CD180 has a short cytoplasmic tail lacking the TIR domain. Its expression depends on coexpression with MD-1 and mirrors that of TLR4 on antigen-presenting cells.

CD180 regulates recognition of LPS and B cell signaling through interaction with the TLR4 signaling complex, inhibiting microbial ligand binding. Ligation of CD180 by monoclonal antibodies induces B cell activation, upregulation of CD80/CD86, and cell enlargement.

The protein includes extracellular leucine-rich repeats (LRR) and a short cytoplasmic tail, forming the RP105/MD-1 receptor complex. CD180 dysfunction has been linked to Kawasaki Disease and may play a role in rheumatic disease pathology.
