This antibody reacts only with human serum albumin, a 65–67 kDa monomeric protein in human blood plasma that is produced in the liver. No cross-reactivity was observed with other serum proteins.
Target Information
Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein (~65–67 kDa) that constitutes about half of blood serum protein. Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in plasma and has a serum half-life of approximately 20 days. It functions as a carrier for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and helps stabilize extracellular fluid volume. Synthesized in the liver, albumin regulates colloidal osmotic pressure and binds water, Ca²⁺, Na⁺, K⁺, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs.
