PEP-0226 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20108.
Target Information
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes composed of a prodomain and large and small protease subunits. Activation requires proteolytic processing at conserved internal aspartic residues to generate a heterodimeric enzyme. This caspase can cleave and activate its own precursor as well as caspase 1 precursor. Overexpression induces cell apoptosis. Alternative splicing results in distinct isoforms.
