Target Information
Syntrophin alpha-1 (also known as Dystrophin, SNTA1) is a large, rod-like cytoskeletal protein located at the inner surface of muscle fibers. Dystrophin is absent in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and reduced in Becker Muscular Dystrophy. The encoded protein is a peripheral membrane protein associated with dystrophin and dystrophin-related proteins. This gene belongs to the syntrophin family, which includes at least two other structurally related genes.
