Target Information
PITX2는 RIEG/PITX homeobox 패밀리에 속하며, bicoid 클래스의 homeodomain 단백질입니다. 이 단백질은 전사 인자로 작용하여 procollagen lysyl hydroxylase 유전자 발현을 조절합니다. 성장호르몬 및 프로락틴 분비세포의 분화에 관여하고, 눈, 치아 및 복부 기관의 발달에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한 프로락틴의 기저 및 호르몬 조절 활성에 관여하는 전사 조절 인자로 작용합니다.
PITX2 유전자 변이는 Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome, iridogoniodysgenesis syndrome, Peters anomaly와 관련이 있습니다. 다른 척추동물에서는 발생 과정 중 좌우 비대칭 결정에 관여합니다.
