Target Information
The nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) transcription complex is essential for the expression of proteins regulating immune response. There are four NFAT proteins (NFAT1/NFATc2, NFAT2/NFATc1, NFAT3, NFAT4/NFATc3), each encoded by separate genes and existing as splice variants. These proteins share limited sequence similarity with the Dorsal/Rel/NFkB transcription factor family. NFAT5, another related protein, differs by lacking many Fos/Jun contact sites and is not calcineurin-dependent in its localization.
