이 복합체는 단일가닥 엔도뉴클레이스 활성과 이중가닥 특이적 3'-5' 엑소뉴클레이스 활성을 가지며, 이는 MRE11에 의해 제공됩니다.
RAD50은 DNA 말단을 결합하고 근접하게 유지하는 데 필요합니다.
MRE11 유전자의 돌연변이는 ataxia-telangiectasia-like disorder 1을 유발할 수 있습니다.
