MA1-10628 detects alpha-1 Antitrypsin from human samples.
It has been successfully used in ELISA applications.
The immunogen is purified human serum alpha-1 Antitrypsin.
Target Information
Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (Alpha-1-AT) is synthesized in the liver and acts as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, collagenase, leucocytic proteases, plasmin, and thrombin. These enzymes, if not inhibited, can digest pulmonary parenchyma, leading to tissue damage.
Deficiency of alpha-1-AT is associated with chronic obstructive lung disease (emphysema), hepatic cirrhosis in infants, and respiratory distress in newborns.
Increased alpha-1-AT levels occur as an acute phase response to tissue necrosis and inflammation, and are elevated in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis.
