Product Specific Information
MA1-10626 detects alpha-1 Antitrypsin from human samples and does not cross-react with alpha-1-antichymotrysin.
It has been successfully used in ELISA applications.
The immunogen used is purified human serum alpha-1 Antitrypsin.
Target Information
Alpha-1-AT is synthesized in the liver and acts as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, collagenase, leucocytic proteases, plasmin, and thrombin, which may be released during inflammatory reactions in the lung.
Deficiency of alpha-1-AT is associated with chronic obstructive lung disease (emphysema) and, less frequently, hepatic cirrhosis in infants and respiratory distress of the newborn.
An increase in alpha-1-AT occurs as an acute phase response to tissue necrosis and inflammation. Serum levels are elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis.
