Specificity:
This antibody is specific for murine CTLA-4, an inhibitory receptor that acts as the primary negative regulator of T-cell responses. CTLA-4 is expressed predominantly by activated T cells, with significantly higher levels of expression on CD8+ T cells than CD4+ T cells.
Target Information
CTLA4 (Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte Antigen 4)
CTLA4 is a CD28-family receptor expressed mainly on CD4+ T cells. It binds the same ligands as CD28 (CD80 and CD86 on B cells and dendritic cells), but with higher affinity than CD28. In contrast to CD28, which enhances cell function when bound simultaneously with the T cell receptor, CTLA4 inhibits T cell function. Intracellular CTLA4 is also found in regulatory T cells and may be important to their function.
