Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human BMP-2. Anti-Human BMP-2-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect hBMP-2 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human BMP-2 (500-P195) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant hBMP-2.

Western Blot:
To detect Human BMP-2 by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 mg/mL. Used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human BMP-2 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Bone Morphogenic Proteins (BMPs) are members of the TGF-beta superfamily that affect bone and cartilage formation. Mature BMPs are 30–38 kDa proteins with a TGF-beta-like cysteine knot configuration. BMPs stimulate production of specific bone matrix proteins and influence stromal cell and osteoclast proliferation. They also play roles in cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, and morphogenesis, and are involved in normal dorsal/ventral patterning. Like TGF-beta, BMPs bind to a type II receptor, which recruits the type I receptor, activating the Smad signaling pathway.
