Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the cadherin (calcium-dependent adhesion protein) superfamily.
This calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in the CDH1 gene (chromosome 16) are associated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers.
Loss or reduction of E-cadherin expression correlates with tumor invasion and metastasis potential.
The ectodomain mediates bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells, while the cytoplasmic domain is essential for internalization.
E-cadherin plays a critical role in tissue architecture and integrity by regulating cell growth and development.
