Description:
The MAR-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with the Fc epsilon Receptor I alpha subunit (FcεRIα), an IgE-binding subunit that lacks signal-transducing ability. It is expressed on mast and basophil cells and is up-regulated in the presence of IgE. FcεRIα forms a tetrameric complex with one beta and two gamma subunits containing immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs). The FcεRI complex is critical in triggering IgE-mediated allergic reactions.

Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of the MC/9 mouse mast cell line. Recommended ≤0.125 µg per test (100 µL total volume). Optimal antibody concentration should be titrated per assay.

Target Information
FceR1 (Fc epsilonR1 alpha) is a subunit of the high-affinity IgE receptor. The receptor is a tetrameric complex consisting of one alpha, one beta, and two gamma subunits. The alpha subunit binds IgE, while the beta and gamma subunits mediate signal transduction. Crosslinking of IgE-bound receptors by allergens triggers release of mediators such as histamine, leading to allergic responses including hay fever and asthma. The receptor thus plays a central role in IgE-mediated hypersensitivity and inflammation.
