Target Information
The SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) protein family functions similarly to ubiquitin but regulates nuclear transport, transcription, apoptosis, and protein stability rather than targeting proteins for degradation. SUMO proteins require cleavage of the terminal two amino acids for activation. Multiple pseudogenes and splice variants have been identified for this gene.
