Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  • This antibody is predicted to have broad species reactivity.

Target Information

SUMO2 is a member of the SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) protein family. This family functions similarly to ubiquitin, binding to target proteins as part of a post-translational modification system. Unlike ubiquitin, which targets proteins for degradation, SUMO2 is involved in processes such as nuclear transport, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, and protein stability.
In vertebrates, three SUMO family members have been described: SUMO1 and the homologues SUMO2 and SUMO3. SUMO modification sites in the N-terminal regions of SUMO2 and SUMO3 are utilized by SAE1/SAE2 (SUMO E1) and Ubc9 (SUMO E2) to form polymeric chains of SUMO2 and SUMO3 on protein substrates — a property not shared by SUMO1.
