Target Information
STK17B (also known as DRAK2) is a member of the serine/threonine kinase family and is related to death-associated protein kinase that triggers apoptosis. STK17B plays a critical role in T-cell survival and has potential therapeutic relevance in autoimmune diseases.
Deficiency of STK17B can influence autoimmune disease susceptibility without general immune suppression.
Protein kinases are key regulators in signal transduction responding to various external stimuli.
Overexpression of DRAKs, including STK17B, in NIH 3T3 cells induces apoptosis, suggesting the C-terminal domain of DRAKs is essential for this process.
