Target Information
SFPQ, also known as PSF, encodes a nuclear factor involved in splicing and regulation of gene expression. It forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and break repair. Recent studies identified SFPQ as a downstream target of tau, showing nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brains. Reduced SFPQ levels correlate with tau pathology, suggesting its role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD. SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules in various cell types.
