Target Information
Proteins of the structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) family play critical roles in chromosome structural changes. SMC proteins are involved in the proper condensation and segregation of mitotic chromosomes. Four human SMC proteins form two distinct heterodimeric complexes in the cell: the hCAP-C/hCAP-E complex and the hSMC1/hSMC3 complex.
