Product Specific Information
This antibody stains S100 in Schwannomas, ependymomas, astrogliomas, and almost all benign and malignant melanomas including their metastases.
Immunostaining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues requires no special pretreatment.
Use at a dilution of 1:50–1:100 for 30 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control for this product is melanoma.
Target Information
S100 belongs to the family of calcium-binding proteins such as calmodulin and troponin C.
S100A is composed of an alpha and beta chain, whereas S100B consists of two beta chains.
S100 protein is expressed in antigen-presenting cells such as Langerhans cells in skin and interdigitating reticulum cells in the paracortex of lymph nodes.
