Product Specific Information

  • For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to reach a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
  • For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL (Product #89882).

Target Information

The tumor suppressor protein p53 is a sequence-specific transcription factor activated by cellular stress. It mediates cell cycle arrest or apoptosis in response to DNA damage or nutrient deprivation. p53 regulates transcription of genes such as p21waf1, contributing to G1 or G2/M arrest.
Structurally, p53 includes:

  • N-terminal transactivation domain
  • Central DNA-binding domain
  • Oligomerisation domain
  • C-terminal regulatory domain

Phosphorylation at Ser15 is crucial for activation and stabilization, while Ser392 phosphorylation is associated with tumor formation. p53 plays key roles in tumor suppression, aging, oxidative stress, and learning/memory regulation.
Mutations in TP53 are common in human cancers and lead to loss of tumor suppressor function. Germline mutations are also linked to Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
