Target Information
Mitofilin is a transmembrane protein located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It is associated with a large multimeric protein complex (~1200 kDa) and plays a critical role in mitochondrial morphology, fusion, and fission—particularly in the formation of tubular cristae and cristae junctions.
Abnormal mitochondrial morphology has been implicated in various human diseases such as myopathy, cardiomyopathy, rhabdomyosarcoma, and Whartin’s tumor.
