Target Information
NME1 was identified due to reduced mRNA levels in highly metastatic cells. Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDK) exists as a hexamer composed of A (encoded by NME1) and B (encoded by NME2) isoforms.
Mutations in NME1 are found in aggressive neuroblastomas. Two transcript variants encode different isoforms, and co-transcription with NME2 generates fusion proteins sharing sequence identity with both gene products.
