Target Information
SMAD1/SMAD5/SMAD8/SMAD9 단백질은 Drosophila의 mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) 및 C. elegans의 Sma 유전자 산물과 유사한 SMAD 단백질 계열에 속합니다. SMAD 단백질은 다양한 신호 전달 경로를 매개하는 신호 전달자 및 전사 조절자로 작용합니다.
이 단백질은 골형태형성단백질(BMP) 신호를 매개하며, 세포 성장, 세포사멸, 형태형성, 발달, 면역 반응 등의 생물학적 활동에 관여합니다. BMP 리간드에 반응하여 BMP 수용체 키나아제에 의해 인산화 및 활성화되며, SMAD4와 복합체를 형성하여 전사 조절 기능을 수행합니다.
또한 SMURF1, SMURF2와 같은 SMAD 특이적 E3 유비퀴틴 리가아제의 표적이 되어 유비퀴틴화 및 프로테아좀 매개 분해를 겪습니다. 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사체도 관찰되었습니다.
